Trouble with snoring

Snoring is a sound that is usually caused by the vibration of the palate. People often react funny to the problem. However, this relatively innocent suffering can lead to much inconvenience for bedpartners and may even lead to termination of the relationship. The problem of snoring occurs mainly in men between thirty and fifty years old. Children are common in snoring too. Snoring has different causes.

Causes

One of the causes of snoring can be a narrowing or blockage of the nasopharynx. This problem usually occurs at people with overweight. When these people sleep on their back, the snoring can be aggravated because the nasopharynx will be blocked. Another cause of snoring could be the relaxation or swelling of the palate. This is often the result of alcohol. Excessive alcohol use is a common cause of snoring. Other effects of swelling may result from a throat infection or irritation by tobacco smoke.

Also, the risk of snoring increases when suffering from a cold. When this occurs, the reason of snoring is a blocked nasopharynx. So far it is not yet known if snoring can be acquired by heredity. However, the way of life affects the degree of snoring. The reason of this condition could then be due to obesity, alcohol and smoking. These three bad habits can often lead to snoring.

Means to stop snoring

There are several remedies that reduce or even finish snoring. First of all, it is important that external causes are terminated. In the case of obesity, it is important to lose weight. This not only ensures that snoring will be reduced, it is also better for your entire health. Avoid frequent use of alcohol. Quit smoking is perhaps the most important step to reduce snoring. When your lungs can breathe in more air, you're less likely to have a cold and you run less risk of narrowing of the nasopharynx. There are other possible remedies that can reduce snoring. In the pharmacy, strips are available that give your nose more room to breathe. The strip is stuck on your nose and only lasts for one night. The strip, however, offers no guarantee against snoring, because narrowing of the nose is not always the cause of snoring. The strip does make sure you breathe through your nose. This prevents you from deep sleep breathing through your mouth, which can cause snoring. Try to go to sleep on your side instead of on your back. Furthermore, there are nasal sprays available that provide for improved breathing.

If these solutions do not resolve the snoring, it might be wise to take contact your doctor and possibly look at the operational possibilities for the snoring problem.
